Mike Short Jr. Keepin' Busy
When home from college, Mike hits the ground running with his friends from the Downtime Band. To sum up 2009, Mike and Downtime won the "Battle of the Bands" in Doylestown, PA. They also packed the house at the popular "Puck", performing two shows per night and are returning for a repeat performance in May 2010. Their popular sound has generated much success leading them to compete at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia. Competing against the popular genres of Rock, Rap and Hip-Hop, Mike Short Jr and Downtime brought an alternative country sound to the big city. Unsurprisingly, they earned a win taking them into the semi-final Philadelphia event,"The CREAM of Philadelphia- Rising Stars".
The Downtime band consist of Bridger Simons, Conor Wright and Greg Scheckler, who have been friends and classmates since elementary school. These well trained musicians and songwriters created, performed, recorded and commercially distributed their own highly successful CD as the former band "Common Ground". Today, they are stepping up to a new quality sound with Mike Short Jr. A most recent addition to Downtime is Maura McColgan, a talented singer and experienced guitar player who will add background vocals in addition to her instrumental expertise.
While residing in Tennessee during the school year, Mike continues to perform with other musical friends in the Recording Industry program. Together, with Dustin Nicholson on lead guitar/background vocals, Brenndon Harp on drums, Lindsay Jurek on rhythm guitar/background vocals and Andrew Gentile on bass,"Mike Short Jr and "State Wide" is currently booking gigs in Tennessee. This group of seasoned performers are quickly raising southern eyebrows with their soulful country sound. Expect to hear more out of this group.
